Welcome 3rd Grader!

This is going to be an exciting year with many interesting units we will study, and of course, field trips will be planned! In social studies, you will learn all about communities near and far. In science, we will learn about measuring matter, water, and different kinds of animals. This is the year you will extend your learning with multiplication and division. We will also read many neat stories in our reading books as well as some chapter books!

Homework Expectations

Homework should be 30 minutes or less per night. Please let us know if it is taking too long for your child to complete his/her homework and we will work with you. Homework will be most nights of the week but will NOT be given over weekends.

Math: The math worksheet comes directly from what was taught in class that day. There may be times that Math Boxes are sent home and these will be review and preview of other units. Your child should try what he/she can.

Reading: Your child should be reading at least 45 minutes per week. This may be in the form of reading on his/her own, reading to someone or even having someone read to him/her. The logs need to be turned in each Friday with a parent signature. Each week we will pull random winners from logs turned in to receive a book or small prize.

Spelling: A list may come home from time to time, but most spelling will be graded in your child’s journal based on the patterns we are studying in class.
