Hello, and welcome to my classroom! I am looking forward to having you in my class this year. This will be an exciting year at Donegal Intermediate School.

I will be your teacher for all subjects- Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

This year we will continue to practice and build your reading and comprehension skills. We will also work at becoming better writers.

In Math, you’ll become masters at multiplication, problem solving, and much more!

In Science you’ll investigate water and also get to observe some different critters while learning about living things.

In Social Studies, you will learn about communities.
My Family- Greg, Me, Lilly, and Olivia. Our family tradition is to watch the sunrise at Rehoboth Beach.

For various reasons, I am not allowing any birthday treats in my classroom this year. If your child would like to share pencils, or if you would like to donate some books to the classroom in his/her honor, you are welcome to do so.

In our class, I use a color chart
behavior system. All students will start
on "Green- Ready to Learn". They
can move "up" the chart, to blue or
purple, for going "above and beyond"
the Code of Conduct (Be Respectful, Responsible, and Safe). They can also move "down" to red, orange, or yellow, for not following the Code of Conduct. Students will color in the calendar in the Agenda books each day to reflect what color they ended on. Students are expected to follow the code of conduct, and will not necessarily receive an award every time they do so. DIS will use special tickets to reward students for showing their best behavior in the common areas (hallway, arrival/dismissal, recess, cafeteria, etc.)
Morning Meeting
Morning Meeting
We have time most mornings to have Morning Meetings to discuss any issues we are having in class and to build community. My goal is to make sure that students are given the skills they need to be behaviorally, emotionally, and academically successful this year. If you have questions or concerns, please let me know! It is important to me that I stress that all students will not always get the same thing, because they do not all need the same thing (one child may need extra help with fractions, while his neighbor needs some work with subtraction).
I am looking forward to working with your child this year. I believe that it truly does take a village to educate a child. Their success depends on us working as a team and communicating. If you ever have questions or concerns, feel free to email me at or send a note in your child's agenda or homework folder. These are the two best ways to get in touch with me!

I will send a newsletter home each week with important dates and information about what we are doing in school. Please be sure to look for these newsletters on Mondays. I will do my best to send a paper copy as well as an email copy. The newsletter can usually clear up any questions you have about what is happening in the classroom.
