Parent Support

Parents are the most effective model for children.  Your routines, behaviors, language,

and outlook will be reflected in how your child approaches life.

Suggestions for supporting your child.

•Talk to child about your expectations for their grades, behaviors, and work ethic at school.

•Have solid routines for sleep, homework, and play.

•Ask your child to explain what they are working on in school.

•Speak positively about school in front of your child – your outlook becomes their outlook.

•If concerns arise, please address them privately with the adult(s) involved.

•Require your  child be responsible for their work, language, and actions.

•Encourage your student to communicate with teachers.

•Require your student be organized.

•Help them set up methods of organization that work for them (agenda, lists, calendar, phone, etc.)

•Help them establish good study habits.

Students are expected to see their teacher if they miss any chunk of time during the day for any reason. They are required to make up work they miss and will be held accountable for that content on assessments. Please remember teachers are dealing with 75-80 students. Please feel free to contact your teachers at any time via school phone or email.
Students are expected to keep organized folders/binder. Papers should be neatly kept in their appropriate subject section. Teachers list homework assignments for all subjects on the board. It is the student’s responsibility to copy those assignments in their agenda (assignment book) during the day. Time may be provided during class to complete some or all of the assignments. If your child’s folders/binder needs cleaned out, please have them do it under your guidance. Your child needs to learn to be responsible for their own organization and they should know which papers are still needed.
